Service 03 — Payments

Payment Gateways

Take card payments online without the three-week detour.

Gateway account setup, verification paperwork, checkout integration and a real end-to-end test — so the first customer payment is not also the first test.

Why it matters

Payment setup is where most self-serve online launches stall. The account opens in ten minutes, then verification asks for documents you have to dig out, the payout account fails a check, and the test payment errors with a code nobody explains. We have been through it enough times to know which fields cause which rejection.

The problem

A checkout that is not live, or worse, one that is live and failing silently. Customers who reach the payment step and cannot complete it rarely come back to try again.

The outcome

A verified merchant account, a working checkout, the payment methods your customers expect, and a confirmed test transaction before you go live.

Scope

What is actually in it.

Six pieces of work, all of them done before anything is called finished.

01

Gateway selection

Stripe, PayPal, SumUp or Mollie, chosen on your transaction sizes, volume and country — the fee difference across these is real money at volume.

02

Account setup and verification

Merchant account opened and taken through KYC. We tell you exactly which documents to have ready so it clears first time.

03

Integration

Hosted checkout, payment links or an embedded form, connected to your site, catalog or invoices and tested in live mode.

04

Payment methods enabled

Cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and local methods such as iDEAL, Bancontact or SEPA direct debit where they fit your market.

05

Operational settings

Payout schedule, statement descriptor, receipt emails, refund policy and basic fraud rules — the settings that cause disputes if left on default.

06

End-to-end test

A real transaction through the full path: payment, receipt, refund, payout. You watch it happen on the handover call.

You end up with

Things that exist and belong to you.

  • Verified merchant account in your name
  • Live, tested checkout or payment link
  • Test transaction and refund record
  • Fee breakdown sheet for your chosen provider
  • Refund and dispute handling guide

What we need from you

  • Company registration details
  • Business bank account for payouts
  • Photo ID for the beneficial owner
  • A description of what you sell and typical order value

We ask for all of it once, in a single message, rather than drip-feeding requests at you over two weeks. If something is missing we will tell you what it blocks.

Questions

Payments, specifically.

General questions about pricing, ownership and timelines are on the FAQ page.

What do the payment providers charge?
Their own fees, paid directly to them — typically around 1.4–2.9 % plus a fixed amount per transaction in Europe. We never mark those up or take a cut, and you get a written breakdown for your chosen provider before you commit.
Can I accept payments without a website?
Yes. Payment links, QR codes and invoice payments all work with no site at all. For many service businesses that is the faster route.
What if verification rejects my application?
It happens, usually over a document mismatch. We work out which check failed, correct it and resubmit. That is included — there is no extra charge for a second attempt.
Is my business type accepted?
Most are. Some categories are restricted by the providers themselves. We check your category against the provider’s prohibited list before you pay us anything.
